Terry Black's BBQ Lockhart: Authentic Southern Barbecue Experience

You really dont need any sauces (meats are succulent). Brisket is to die for. Ribs are excellent. Sausages are very good. Turkey - this was a surprise. Did not believe you could make turkey taste so good. WOW. Creamy corn side - dont pass. Beef ribs a staple @ Terry Black - was tender and great taste. For my money, get more brisket. M’y son and I enjoyed so much, we returned the next day for more. Got to chat with pitmaster Josh. One heck of a nice Guy who openly shared his knowledge. #1 Texas Barbecue - hands down.

Came to Lockhart to enjoy some of the F1 fun this year. Terry Black’s was definitely on the agenda for the first time. I placed a to go order for the small family meal and it did not disappoint. The service was quick and great. The Jalepano sausage had a great kick. The brisket was tender and the ribs were off the charts. I would say if you order and eat there I bet it would kick it up a notch.

My brother and I took a spur of the moment BBQ motorcycle trip to a few “iconic” bbq spots around the Austin and surrounding areas. We made our way to a few places and ultimately decided that Terry Black’s was above and beyond any other place we tried. We made our way over to the smokers to take a look and we were invited right in to have an up close look at their awesome setup! The gentleman could not have been any friendlier in showing us the layout and explaining the extensive process of making an absolutely perfect brisket. We then made our way inside to place our order at the counter. The sides were fantastic. We chose potato salad, coleslaw, and creamed corn. Then we moved on to the meat section and were once again provided excellent service by Bobo and Adrian. They helped us out in selecting a great assortment of meat. The brisket was super tender but still had a nice bark, the jalapeño cheddar sausage had a nice little kick and wasn’t greasy like some others. We also had a little of the smoked turkey which was juicy and smoky. The ribs were tender and delicious as well. Long story short, this place blew every other BBQ spot out of the water in every regard! We will most definitely be back and will be sending everyone we know as well! Thanks fellas!

The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. Received a tour of the smokehouse with explanations of the 36 hour process for preparing 300 briskets a day. Sides were phenomenal, fatty brisket and beef rib were excellent. What a great experience!

OMG!! This place is incredible!! We came all the way from Florida just to eat Texas BBQ and this place far exceeded our expectations!! I had the beef rib and it was the finest piece of beef I'd ever eaten in over six decades!!! The only way to describe it as meat candy!! We were greeted by Veronica and Adrian with genuine Texas hospitality. They attended to all of needs and made us feel like long lost friends. After we ate, Jason gave us a tour of the cooking area and explained their meat smoking process. He couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. We drove ten plus hours just to eat here and it was so worth it!!! Bravo Team Terry Black's!!

Showed up between lunch and dinner on a Tuesday and it was nice and chilled; if you’ve ever been to a proper Texas bbq around feeding time, you know how crazy it can get! We had brisket, sausage and a couple of dino ribs and they were all awesome. Many thanks to Amelia for her help and hospitality!

They start your experience off right by making you walk by the smokers so the aroma gets your mouth watering. All the sides are good. The Mac and Cheese is creamy with a lot of flavor. The coleslaw has great flavor without to much vinegar. Then you get to the meats. We went with sliced brisket, ribs and the jalapeno and cheese sausage. The smoke on the brisket is probably the best we have ever had and we've tried brisket everywhere. The flavor is so good you don't need sauce and that's coming from someone who LOVES the sauce. The sausage was amazing. The pop of flavor with your first bite is packed full. The ribs are almost fall off the bone and also have great flavor. Overall, you can't go wrong. We highly recommend you stop in for the best BBQ in Texas!!!!

This is the 2nd Terry Black's BBQ that we've been to. Just like the location in a Austin, the smokemasters cooked the meat perfectly.i love that they give people a tour of the pit--so interesting to see and learn. This time we had brisket and pork ribs along with their Mac & Cheese that tastes like the stuff my mom made when I was a kid. The corn has a spice in it that I can't pinpoint, but it adds a new dimension to the corn. Washing it down with a Frosty Rootbeer and Im a happy camper. Full!! Lots of seating for overflow but I'm guessing she gets pretty busy on the weekends! The service was great, enjoyed visiting with the meat cutter. Definitely put it on your list to check out!
